HISTORYThe exceptional qualities of the waters that sprout to the surface at the Elgorriaga Spa mean quality of life for our guests and ensure them a healthy stay. Doctor Alejandro San Martin and Doctor Antonio Simonena discovered the medicinal importance of these waters from the very moment in which the first salts were obtained here by evaporation in 1846. Doctor Mariano Mañeru, medical director at the Spa from 1919, also recognised the therapeutic effectiveness of the spring. The Elgorriaga Spa boasts the spring with the highest level of mineralisation in the world. Its highly mineralised sodium chloride-rich waters are recommended for a wide range of treatments.
